Cai Bin was appointed as the new head coach of the China Women’s National Team, succeeding iconic Lang Ping, who retired after the 2020 Tokyo Olympics last year. Actually, the CVA hasn’t nominated the person to take the reins from her since September 1, 2021, when she officially stepped down from her post after 11 years in two terms (1995 – 1998 and 2013 – 2021). Lang announced her retirement back in 2020. She led China Women to the gold medal in the 2016 Rio Olympics, which was one of several titles she claimed with the national team.

As for Cai, he had coached the U20 China National Team for 10 years before stepping into the senior squad in 2009 as a temporary solution for the head coach position. After that, the 55-year-old expert continued his career on the club level, commanding Beijing between 2010 and 2013 and, currently, Jiangsu to which he came in 2014.
