In the 13th round of the Croatian Super League, in the most interesting match on Saturday, Ribola Kaštela beat Kitro Varaždin away in five sets. The result was 3-2 (20-25, 25-18, 25-23, 23-25, 15-12) after 125 minutes of play.

Josip Vojak, from the home team, said after the match:

“Unfortunately, we lost, although we won one point, but that doesn’t mean much this season, considering that victories count. I am glad that we even had a chance to win because we played against a team that trains a little more than us, even twice a day, while we have been patching up lately. We have problems with the sick, we do not have covid-positive ones, but we have them under temperatures. We are therefore in reduced numbers in training, which affects the quality of training. However, today we partially managed to show what we can do, and once again it is a pity that the last set did not go to our side. “

Another match went to the fifth set, the match between Marsonia and Centrometal, in which the guests also celebrated in the end, after the host led 2-0 in sets. In the end, the result was 2-3 (25-22, 25-16, 18-25, 17-25, 8-15).

Zadar, on the other hand, surprised Rovinj away, winning 3-1 (20-25, 25-22, 25-21, 25-23), so in the end this was almost a round in which the guests celebrated. Only the leading Mladost justified the role of hosts and favorites and easily dealt with Gorica, winning 3-0 (16, 13, 8). And with the combined team, because the main levers were resting on the bench. Therefore, Gabriel Cvanciger used his minutes, who scored 17 points and was the only double-digit number of points in the match. After the match he said:

Coach Gačič gave the opportunity to young players, who did a very good job and took seriously the coach’s instructions he gave us before the game. From the beginning, we entered the game strongly and kept that rhythm until the last point. In the next period, we have four very important matches ahead of us, so we have already started preparing for the upcoming matches as soon as we finish this one. Of course, we hope for victories. I would like to congratulate the team on their fighting spirit and victory.”

The matches between Rijeka and Mursa Osijek and Sisak and Split have been postponed, so after the incomplete 13th round, Mladost is in the lead with almost 12-0, followed by Mursa Osijek 11-1 and Ribola Kaštela 10-3. The last is Gorica with almost 0-14, ahead of Zadar with almost 2-11 and 10th is Rovinj with 3-9.

In the Women Superleague, the favorites win neatly. The leading Mladost celebrated with 3- 0 (15, 13, 18) in Dubrovnik in the 61st minute of the game, Marina Kaštela away against Brda also won with 3- 0 (17, 23, 19), in 75 minutes. Kaštela also beat Split 3- 0 (21, 16, 21) in a match that lasted 78 minutes.

Nina Strize from the winning team, who scored 26 points with 8 aces, said:

After losing the last round to Rijeka, we have now won Split, despite the problems the team had with the coronavirus, which makes us very happy. Thanks to the fans for their support.“

Smooth victories were joined by Dinamo, which beat Veli Vrh at home with 3- 0 (20, 21, 13) in 74 minutes of play. In the most interesting match of the round, Rijeka CO defeated Enne Vukovar with 3- 1 (17-25, 25-23, 25-18, 25-16) after 90 minutes of clean play, with 20 points by Koraca and 16 by Štiglić, thus consolidating the fourth position, ahead of Vukovar.

The match between Osijek and Karlovac has been postponed and Mladost is leading the table with a score of 13-0, Marina Kaštela is second with 12-1 and Dinamo is third with 9-4. At the back is Dubrovnik with almost 1-11, as is the penultimate Split, while Veli Vrh is in 10th place with almost 2-10.
