The battle of father and son, Ljubomir Travica and Dragan Travica, against Iranian men’s volleyball club Shahrdari Urmia to get what belongs to them, isn’t over even after more than 5 years.
Urmia have been disqualified from international activities by the governing body of world volleyball, FIVB. Current Iranian vice-champions, who got eliminated from the playoffs in the national championship this season, were already sanctioned in 2019 for not having paid the arrears to their former head coach Ljubomir Travica and his son Dragan Travica for their services in the 2016/17 season. However, now, the FIVB imposed a more severe penalty. Disqualification means that Urmia won’t be able to participate in or organize the 2022 Asian Club Championship.
Whether or not this will finally force the Iranian side to pay what they owe to the renowned expert and former Italy National team setter, remains to be seen.
