Britain urges Iran to release volleyball fan from prison

Britain has urged Iran to release a British-Iranian woman who has been imprisoned in Tehran for nearly three months after attending a men’s volleyball match.

She was detained after attending the sports match on June 20, which women had been previously banned from doing.

Miss Ghavami is of dual nationality, as her mother, Susan Moshtaghian, 49, was born in London and grew up in the UK. She later moved to Iran where she met and married her surgeon husband, Houshang Ghavami, 64.
