SLO M: Giani – „I thank Slovenian Federation for this opportunity“

Slovenian Volleyball Federation chose Andrea Giani as the new head coach of the men’s national team.

“I am very happy and honored to be able to coach a national team which has a group of players of great level. I thank the President of Slovenian Federation Mr. Ropret and his council for giving me this great opportunity. This season will be long and difficult, but at the end of it we would like to prove to everyone the value and strength of our team,” Giani said after taking over Slovenian team.

The 44-year-old expert is one of the best players Italy country in the history, winning three Olympic medals, three consecutive world titles and four European titles with the Italian team.

Giani started his coaching career just after retirement in 2008, becoming the coach of Modena. Than he was named as coach of Roma. In 2012/13 he moved to Verona.

Giani was also an assistant coach in Italian national team from 2011-2014 and won silver on European championship in 2011 and 2013 and bronze medal on the Olympic games in London with its team.
