The Festival was held on July 7 at the Harvest Christian Academy Sports Field in Barrigada village near Tumon, the island’s tourist hub. It was hosted by the Guam Volleyball Federation (GVBF) in conjunction with the FIVB.
In a promotional video for the event Sandra Low, president of the GVBF, said: “We’re targeting about 75 to 100 kids, we’re going to have a most creative team name contest as well and basically it’s just kids in the neighbourhood, pulling their buddies out together and having a good time playing volleyball.“
“We are just so excited to finally bring this event to Guam, and we are grateful to have wonderful sponsors who believe in our youth volleyball programmes.” Children who attended were rewarded with mini-volleyballs, T-shirts and free ice creams.
The Volley All Festival is an annual event celebrated worldwide. The FIVB estimates that over 1.3 million youngsters have participated in these events in the last three years.
