Current title holders, NEC Red Rockets, were crushed as hosts in “Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium” by Queenseis Toyota Auto Body 3-0 (25-21, 29-27, 25-19).
The winning team had Azerbaijani star Polina Rahimova as the most efficient player with 35 points! Saori Takahashi added 11.
Sarina Koga scored 16 points in Red Rockets and was the only player in last season’s gold medalists with double digits on scorers chart.
Another team achieved an away victory in the same gymnasium in today’s matches of Round 1. Toray Arrows defeated Hitachi Rivale Ibaraki in four sets, with partial 20-25, 25-21, 25-19, 25-21.
Saori Sakoda with 21 and Saori Kimura with 16 led Toray scorers. Mirei Sasaki collected 17 points while Hisae Watanabe had 16 in Hitachi.
