“We were about to finish evening practice and in that moment my assistant coach received a call. I saw a great excitement on his face then he quickly went to the locker room. I knew that something important was happening. A minute later, the second assistant coach told me that I’ve been called to a meeting with the leader of North Korea, Kim Jong-un. My team was invited to play a short match in front of a leader” says Moro.
Could you describe us a moment when Kim Jong-un showed up?
“When he showed up, there was a huge explosion of excitement and applause. All my players started crying. Of course there were tears of joy. That atmosphere proved me how much people love him here. In the eyes of my players I saw happiness…”
Have you met the leader?
“After the match, a man from the protocol came to me and told me that leader wants to see me. He was grateful to me for my effort and work in North Korean volleyball. He wanted to know and wanted to see the team progress. He also named a few players that made a huge progress. The leader wanted to know how it feels like to be far away from my family and friends. He asked me about food and living place and added that he is very pleased that someone from Serbia has come to help in developing of their sport” says Moro.
What are your impressions after meeting Kim?
“He was relaxed, calm, kind and pleasant. He accepted my invitation to take a photo with the team. Recall that his father was a volleyball expert and that’s why he loves volleyball” describes Moro for Serbian website blic.rs.
