In what was one of the most anticipated matches of the day, Belgium scored an amazing 3:0 home win against France in Kortrijk (25-19, 26-24, and 27-25), exactly what they needed to remain in contention for a ticket to make it to the final round of the 2013 European Championship.

After losing last week in Maribor to their opponents from France, the home heroines started well supported by the local crowd and they claimed the first two sets before the third turned into a real drama eventually sealed by a block of Hélène Rousseaux.

Belgium opened well marshaled by setter Frauke Dirickx and going up 6:1; Rousseaux and Freya Aelbrecht looked unstoppable but Anna Rybaczewski and Myriam Kloster powered a comeback that drew the score at 12 all. This was not enough to stop the side captained by Charlotte Leys as Rousseaux and Laura Heyrman chiefly contributed to the final 25-19.

Belgium opened with a good pace in set 2 but France came back with Hélène Schleck before the home side stabilized their block and Leys anchored her side to a sensational 2:0.

The third set left the fans stand on their feet, France was able to fend off a match ball but the second was cashed by Rousseaux to contribute a 3:0 that may signify the qualification for the final round of the European Championship.
