The Champions League participants ACH Volley Ljubljana (defending MEL champion) and Hypo Tirol Innsbruck will enter the competition only after the qualification round for the play-offs. The competition format of the play-offs is the same format as in the European Cup competitions (home and away match with golden set should the overall score after the two encounters be 1:1).
ACH Volley will have to face the team ranked sixth in the qualification round, while Hypo Tirol will have to play the fifth-ranked team. The four winners qualify for the Final Four (04./05.03.12 or 09./10.03.12).
