“We changed our attitude, and we also were looking for that victory that could give us the chance to fight for the medals, but we knew it was going to be a very complicated match. We faced a team with more height, age and experience,” Mexican captain Mauricio Lopez said.
“Mexico came out playing well, but we had the goal of improve our service and we did it. We served better and that gave us the chance to win and to look for the possibility of the medal, that was our main target at this tournament,” Dominican captain Wilfrido Hernandez mentioned.
Mexican coach, Oscar Licea, declared: “I hoped to see my team playing stronger but in the end we were lack of power. Any way there is something clear for un: facing this kind of teams has taught us that physical preparation is very important, and have to work harder on that for the next nine months, before the world championship.”
Meanwhile, Dominican Republic coach, Osiel Vazquez remarked: “We faced a young and very good talented team. We know they are in a lower age level, but they will do great things at their world championship. For us, I am glad with the victory, It was necessary if we really aspired to fight for the bronze medal.”
