In the first option, Marko Virta, the lawyer of a 22-year-old Cuban National Team middle blocker, revealed that his protégé will ask a record compensation from the Finnish government for the 362 days which he spent in prison before being cleared of raping a girl in Tampere hotel, in July 2016, during the FIVB World League weekend.
They asked for 381,000 euros (about 448,000 dollars) which includes 1,000 euros (about 1,175 dollars) for each of the 362 days that the player has spent in prison before being released of charges and, in addition, the 20,000 euros (about 23,900 dollars) for losing a contract in Argentina (in Obras UDAP Voley), due to a prison sentence.
But, it seems that Sosa and his lawyer made an agreement with the Finnish state and that the player at the end will get 200,000 euros.
Unlike Sosa, the four other members of the Cuban National Team accused of the same crime will stay in jail and will serve reduced sentences.
