The South American derby was won by Brazil. They defeated Argentina 0:3. Lorenne Geraldo was best in Brazil, Camila Hiruela in Argentina. Mauricio Thomas and Guillermo Caeres gave their statements.

In a match were both teams showed their utmost and Argentina improved in the second and third set trying to force another set. Brazilian Lorenne Geraldo was the top scorer of the match with 17 points. For Argentina, Camila Hiruela scored 12.

Both winners of their semi-final matches will get the ticket for Thailand while the third ticket will go to the Bronze Medal winner.

Mauricio Thomas, Brazil coach: “The classical match between Brazil and Argentina is not a classical continental match anymor, it is world classical match as both teams play at a very high level. We served very good today and took the needed time to win. I am very happy because we overcame the difficulties in the right moment.

Guillermo Cáceres, Argentina coach: “In the first set we played bad because Brazil had perfect serving and good blocking but thereafter we concentrated and it was a match that could have been won by either team, it was very levelled. Their blocking was very high and that made the difference. The match was hard fought, a great experience for both teams.
