The home heroes of Poland edged Germany 3:1 (36-34, 25-23, 17-25, and 25-21) in a match whose first set turned into a real drama. No team could move up in the score there but eventually it was Poland that finished it off with the terrific score of 36-34 after a dramatic battle. Anchored by the service and attacks of Bartosz Kurek, Poland claimed also the second set before Germany did fight its way back in set 3 chiefly via the contribution provided by their opposite Gyorgy Grozer. After that Poland got back on track and could finish the game with a 3:1 win to back up Friday’s victory in straight sets over Iran.
