From straight sets win to a straight sets defeat, only because of one silly mistake! PGE Skra Belchatow defeated Espadon Szczecin in straight sets in the 4th round of PlusLiga, however they stayed without that win because they violated the competition rules!
Skra had 4 foreign players on court in one single point (which actually ended with a service mistake), however the rules are clear and no one can have more than 3 players on court at the same time during the game.
“We have thoroughly analyzed the situation from the match between Espadon Szczecin and PGE Skra Belchatow. We have made the decision to award Espadon Szczecin with a 3-0 win. We realize that the punishment for Skra is severe, however it is extremely important to follow the rules and regulations of the competition. I hope that after this case we will eliminate the possibility that something similar may happen in future,” said Wojciech Czayka, Vice President of PlusLiga.
