“My home is located in Anaheim, about ten minutes from the beach, so it’s no surprise that in the end I took up surfing. Especially since the city I come from, is the cradle of surfing. This sport was deeply rooted in my family. My father to this day is terribly twisted at this point, and despite 54 years does not deny himself the pleasure of surfing. By the way this dad has ten siblings. Once, six of them went on a five-day surfing trip to Mexico. Hearing these stories, it is hard not to stand on the board and not to deal with a wave.“
“When it comes to my relationships with other water sports, in high school I had a friend whose parents owned several boats. Thanks to him I had the opportunity to try wakeboarding. It is a combination of water skiing, snowboarding and surfing. I did that in total of four years. It also gave me a lot of fun.“
The late love for volleyball and other boards:
“I started playing volleyball relatively late, at the age of 17. I decided to play volleyball for obvious reasons. I had appropriate physical conditions, I was tall for that age. Now I can confidently say that I do not regret my choice.“
“As for the other boards, it came a little later in my life – snowboarding. In winter, I often went to the mountains in Utah to ride a board. Conditions for skiing there are really excellent, and the snow is just perfect.“
“So I decided to stop all the hobbies where I might get injured, because I have too much to lose. In the contract, there are no specific prohibitions regarding these matters, but I know that the time to continue volleyball career just gets better. Sure, it’s hard to give up this kind of pleasures and entertainment. I’d be lying if I said otherwise. But I’m a grown man, I have a family, I have to pay the bills, and besides, I feel fully professional.“
About playing the guitar and more:
“Now I have more “safe” activities, such as taking pictures or playing the guitar. I like music, acoustic, folk, alternative. My favorite bands are: The “Lumineers” and “The Head and The Heart.” When it comes to playing the guitar, I’m self-taught. I learned Guitar chords from the Internet. I bought a VW bus from the 70’s. It’s such a nice, roomy, old school car, which became very popular recently in California. It’s really a great thing, I have a lot of fun with it.“
