Knowing the fact Osmany Juantorena was named MVP of the 2017 FIVB Club World Championship, while he, Yoandy Leal and Robertlandy Simón were in the ideal lineup of the tournament, the Play-Off Magazine reporter was curious to learn if Wilfredo León would like to see all of them as teammates in the new, reunited, Cuba national team.
„I don’t want to think what it would be like if all those players hadn’t left Cuba national team. No one knows where each one of us would be now. The situation is as it is and there’s no reason to look for other scenarios,” Zenit Kazan outside hitter said and, since he earned the right to compete for Poland national team, it is a logical answer.
“From what I see and hear, among volleyball fans in Poland, the vast majority is in favor of me playing in their national team. I hope that some of those who are against will change their opinion after seeing how I will dedicate myself to represent my new team,” León called Polish fans to give him an undivided support when he starts competing for their national team.
“When the time to play against Cuba comes, I’ll go to the court and try to do my job the best I can but, of course, the feeling will be different than playing against other countries,” León explained how he is going to feel facing the national team of his native country.
