The team from Siberia’s second largest city has got a very positive record in the European Cups with 22 wins out of 30 matches played with opponents from 11 different countries, i.e. Norway, Bulgaria, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Cyprus, Romania, Poland, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the Netherlands.

Natalya Mammadova (pictured) – who currently plays for Omichka – still keeps the all-time record for the best scorer in a Champions League game as she registered 47 points while playing for Azerrail BAKU against Vakifbank ISTANBUL back on October 18, 2005.

Actually the CEV Volleyball Champions League did already stop in Omsk this past March 16-17 as the “V. Blinov” sports complex played host to the men’s final four hosted by the club of Lokomotiv NOVOSIBIRSK. The local Volleyball family in Omsk can’t wait for the DOL that is scheduled for June 28 in Vienna and whereby the 24 participating teams will be divided into the six preliminary groups of the League Round.

I would like to congratulate the team and the staff on their bronze medal in the Superleague and the ticket they claimed to play in the next edition of the CEV Volleyball Champions LeagueYaroslav Vorozhko, Executive Director of the VC Omichka says. “We are very proud for being the very first club capable of bringing the women’s Volleyball elite to Siberia. Though we are debuting in the competition, we will be trying to win every single game and hope to make it to the final four” he concludes.
