Who will replace Vladimir Alekno at the position of Russia men’s national team head coach? Everyone have their own favorite…

Russia

Russia

Still, Russian volleyball legend Oleg Moliboga made a very interesting suggestion to the Russian Volleyball Federation.

“Serbia and Bulgaria risked with appointing young coaches and it worked out very well for them. Therefore, I cannot think of a better candidate than Sergey Tetyukhin. He participated at six Olympic tournaments, he has seen so much throughout his career. I think he is the most promising option for Russia.

Moliboga also commented about the possibility that a foreign coach take over Russia men’s national team.

Nonsense. Foreigners only accept such jobs to make money. He would come, he would leave and he would never look back. I would never appoint foreign coach to lead Russia.”

An excellent player with tons of experience equals to a good/suitable head coach ? May be but not definitely …. Good luck to Russia NT …

Did it really work so well for bulgaria and serbia with their ‘young ‘ coaches? I am not so sure……

@The hoff For serbia it does right now but it had taken some time. What needs to be done is introducing new young players in the team. Players like Egor Kliuka, Victor Poletaev, Dmytry Volkov, Ylia Vlasov and so on will be the next stars of Russian NT in the future.

Alekno knows better than anyone that players of the national should be changed but when just six months remains the olympic games you cant play with poletaev vlasov pankov….

@M look at Giannelli, only in the main NT since World Cup 2015, and just 20 years old at the moment. Even though his selection is a risk because of his young age he did a tremendous job at the olympics. Russia has countless young talented players that can match with the likes of Kliuka and Poletaev (Kliuka BTW also did amazingly well) so maybe having taken them into Rio wouldn’t have been such a bad idea (same was with Michaylov back at OG 2008).

@synlerak dear, it is very clear when a player like Kliuka, such a high level volleyball then he would be part of the national team and Alekno used him as a fix player in olympic games and olympic qualification but when Mokhaylov better than poletaev, it is clear that you should use Mikhaylov, Alekno has no problem with young players in 2008 OG mikhaylov was jist 20 years old and Sergey Grankin was just 22, as Alekno said in an interview younge players should play in super league when they dont play you cant trust tgem…about Gianelli he was MVP of the final of super league of italy and it is obvious you should trust him…
