Asseco Resovia Rzeszów, currently No.5 (14-9; 42 points), lost to No.6 Indykpol AZS Olsztyn in Round 23 of Plus Liga, which was their second defeat in a row, by a 3-1 (23-25, 25-23, 25-19, 25-13). Resovia jeopardized their playoff spot (six best-placed sides) since today’s rivals came only win close to them, while No.7 Jastrzębski Węgiel and No.8 Cuprum Lubin have the chance to do the same in case of winning their matches tomorrow.
The Czech Jan Hadrava topped Olsztyn with 23 points, while Jakub Jarosz scored 19 points for Resovia, whose starting middle blocker Marcin Możdżonek suffered an injury in the third set, giving way his place in the lineup to the debutant from France, Barthélémy Chinenyeze.
PGE Skra Bełchatów isolated themselves at No.2 (18-5; 52 points) by sweeping fourteenth-placed Łuczniczka Bydgoszcz (6-17; 19 points) 3-0, partially 25-20, 25-21, 25-17. Skra coach Roberto Piazza gave the chance to opposite Szymon Romać instead of the captain Mariusz Wlazły, who acted as a backup today. Good news for Skra fans is the return of the setter Grzegorz Łomacz to the court after more than a month. He played as the backup in the second and third set.
Bartosz Bednorz scored 14 points for Skra. Bartosz Filipiak recorded 11 points for Łuczniczka.
