After two dramatic 2nd Qualification Round games, ŽOK Osijek from Croatia advanced to the Main Phase (the 16th Finals) of the Challenge Cup, third-ranked club competition under CEV.

Osijek suffered a 3-2 defeat in the 1st leg at home to an Austrian side VB NÖ Sokol Schwechat. In the rematch on the road, Osijek got themselves a 2-0 lead in sets but Sokol did not give and tied at 2-2. So now, in order to advance to the knockout stage of the Challenge Cup, Osijek had to win the tie-break and Golden Set, which they did by a 16-14.

Osijek was led by their captain Ivana Grubeša, who scored 18 points. In Sokol, Jasmin Haslinger and Bulgarian Irena Mishonova made 10 points apiece.
