From tomorrow, August 26th through the 30th, Recife, Brazil will host the esteemed South American Senior Championship. Five prominent national teams – Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, and Peru – will vie for the title in what’s deemed the pinnacle event on the continental calendar. The championship format is round-robin, meaning teams go head-to-head, and the squad with the most victories will clinch the title.
The competition is set to start with a bang at the Geraldão Coliseum, where Argentina will face Colombia. Later in the event, hosts Brazil will take on Peru, looking to add to their impressive history in the championship. To date, Brazil stands atop with 33 titles, followed by Argentina who has clinched 19 silver medals.
