A two-time Olympic champion Thaísa, a member of the Turkish side Eczacıbaşı VitrA İstanbul, underwent medical procedure for the cartilage, which had to be transplanted, and the meniscus. It was a surgery that should have been done in January (when she suffered injury in one match in the Turkish top division), explaining that her left knee was a time bomb ever since.
“The damage of the cartilage was much bigger than the resonance showed, and the meniscus was in much worse shape because a large piece broke loose. That’s why I felt so much pain and why the cartilage hurt so much. The surgery took longer than expected, but everything went well,” Thaísa said for “Globo Esporte”.
With the knee problem since January, Brazilian athlete was sacrificed by Eczacıbaşı coaching staff, playing few more games at their request, as she revealed for “Globo Esporte”. Then, she suffered another injury in early April, this time she hurt the lateral ligament of her right ankle.
Thaísa returned to Brazil just over a month ago and has been treated by the physiotherapist of the Brazilian National Team at the training center in Barueri.
Right after surgery, she was visited by her compatriot Marco Aurélio Motta, the new coach of Eczacıbaşı.

I remember the coaching staff said she decided to play under her own responsibility long time ago.
Re: @Gaboh
The club lied to her about how severe the injury was, she did not know how bad it was, that`s why she played.
