“After the semifinal match we looked at each other and we made a deal! We said that we need to play on a high level! The high level was to deserve this medal and to win this match. I’m really happy because we did it! We did it in front of our audience playing with a great attitude from the beginning. It was very important to keep our head up after the match against Brazil.”

Can you explain what happened in semifinal game vs. Brazil?

“Probably we had a big expectation. It’s a kind of situation when you look at yourself in the mirror and you see yourself uglier than you are in reality. The match against Iran showed that we are in a good physical and technical condition! We had everything yesterday but we didn’t feel the real possibility to beat them!”

Did you miss Jiri Kovar?

“Of course, Jiri Kovar is our key member and he was in marvelous shape. We missed him, he is good in attack and he is good receiver as well. Jiri is very important player for us. It’s not alibi! I would like to play the most important matches with all my players! “

Could you do a better job in the World Championship?

“In this moment, I still don’t think about the World Championship! I’m focused on the upcoming month. We are proud of this medal and if we want to be better for the WCH we have to improve something in the next month!“ says Mauro Berruto!

You missed Zaytsev who was in the court, not Jiri. It’s easy to use name of player who was injured! Mauro, your team played bad when counted! Stop!
