Lube and Dragan Stanković... Perfect combination some would say. On one side there is a famous club which always wants to be the best, on the other a great middle blocker who won many trophies with Crvena zvezda, Budvanska rivijera... That is how their love started, back in 2009.

In the last six years Dragan Stanković and Lube have been through a lot. They were winning together, a lot. But, the last season was not the best. Club won only a domestic SuperCup… A result which did not please neither the team nor the experienced middle blocker.

“It was not as we hoped for. We got eliminated in the Serie A quarter-finals which was one of the worst results in history for Lube. Simply we did not fulfill what was asked from us. There have been some changes in the team, we will see how will that work out in the future” said Dragan Stanković at the beginning of the interview for WorldofVolley.

Still there is a question – will Serbian player still be with the team in the next season? There are a lot of speculations in Italian media…

“Yes, I am reading those stories. One day I am in the team, the other they write that I am out. I have spoken with the club’s management and they told me that they would like to keep me. But, there is a matter of foreign players limit… We will see. I am still on stand-by.”

With or without him in the squad Dragan Stanković has no doubts what will be the main goal of Lube in the next season.

“Taking into concern all the players which have arrived this summer the main goal will be winning the Champions League. It has been our primary goal in the last couple of seasons. However almost every time we would reach the Play-Offs, win the first game and then suffer an elimination in the rematch after the golden set. I hope that Lube will manage to break that bad streak in the next season and that it will reach at least the final tournament.“
