That will not happen this summer, as the Cuban star still needs a permission of the FIVB…
“Yes, I want to play for Poland. It is my decision. I am only waiting for the decision of the FIVB,” said Leon for WorldofVolley and then revealed his plans for the upcoming summer.
“For now I will stay in Kazan and do some more preparations, then I will go somewhere to rest. Still, the main goal during the summer will be not to lose the current physical shape,” concluded Leon.

And what does he knows about Poland their culture and people? Does he speaks Polish? I think he does not give a **** to Poland, he just wants to play at the Olympics etc…..
@fabio actually he live in poland and speak polish, also his girlfriend is polish. His manager is polish too. Before you start talking s..t about somebody do better research.
@fabio maybe you didnt understand but he cant, probably. play for Poland during these Olympics. And anyway his fiancée, or maybe even wife now (honestly, no idea) is a Polish woman.
You always do the same mistake, we are white and reds not red and whites 🙂
He is conviced to play for us. He is determined and learn polish language and customs. He treat this serious and want stay with future wife here. We are glad to welcome here.
Of course Poland’s NT welcomes him! Who would lose such a good player?! Poland is soooo lucky! But they are betraying there own Polish players who wish to play in their national team. It’s not all about cups and medals… Polish federation should think more thoroughly.
@Siaford Another countries didn’t have any problems with that : Italy: Juantorena, Zaytsev, Germany: Grozer, Russia: Muserski, Brazil also will have Leal etc. The same is in women volleyball.
Its not true that a player’s playing in a foreign country’s team.why are there ‘national teams? It should be really national!
@SEB it’s right that he has the house in Poland… But he lives 10 months in Russia and 2 on holidays or playing in small league to earn more money.
About his polish language …. it’s like my Chinese …
He never played and scored 1 point in the Polish Plusliga…
He is Cuban and I don’t think he is able to sing and feel the national polish anthem like his own..
But you can believe to this story and don’t see that it’s just to play in the international volleyball… Or maybe something more and different…
Antigua will close eyes, nose, hears and he will call him definitely…
He is coach and foreign too…!!
Whats more exciting to me is the Italian Team. You can see that most of them are not Italians by origin but are Italians by birth, customs, and heart. you can barely say they’re not Italians. Only American and French origins are losing.. There’s Russians, Croatian, Polish, Czech, Cuban, Bulgarian (former Zlatanov)
…and Simeonov as another Bulgarian!
Antiga, who wants Leo more than anyone, is NOT a Polish coach! He only wants to fill up his résumé using Leo. It’s a fact people. Antiga doesn’t care about Polish young players!
I’ve just found a mistake in this text. Poland is ‘white and red’ not ‘red and white’. ‘Red and white’ is polish team – Asseco Resovia
@wilk.z.lasu they all the time make this mistake. Few people discribed in comments about that, but with no result. Still they write: ‘red and whites’..
If you were a volleyball coach, would you close your eye on the nationality of your player if maybe he will increase your chances to bring good result to your team?
Is his fiance’ also daughter of his agent???
@ANA no his fiancé was a spanish translator in Resovia when Leon spent some time practicing, she is not his agent’s daughter
