In the interview for WorldofVolley, Nadia Centoni speaks about the French Cup, her best season, Galatasaray etc… She is currently playing in RC Cannes, in which she returned in summer 2017.

What is the feeling of returning to RC Cannes after three seasons and winning a trophy for the club again?

“It’s great how I feel now! I’m very proud of my team and the work we did till now, but after this “Coupe” we must think that the season is not over yet and we must work hard to finish in the best way possible!”

What do you expect from the team in this season?

“Of course now I hope to get the title, but the level of the championship is growing up a lot and it will be a fight till the last match because there are 4-5 teams that should win the title!”

How did you decide to return to the club considering that last season, even two seasons ago, Cannes wasn’t the club like we used to?

“I come back in Cannes because in the years that I didn’t play for them I saw the team was really in trouble (because of many reasons) and when last year they contacted me, I start to think that if I can help, even with a little thing, I will do it. My heart stayed in Cannes and I wanted to do something for my old club, even if now all of the club (staff and society) is different from the time when I played.”

Are you satisfied with the performance of Cannes in this season?

“As I said before, I’m happy for the moment, we won the Cup and we did good performer during the regular season but now we must to stay concentrated to arrive in the best way possible to the end and of course I hope to get the title”

Most of your career you played in Cannes, what was the special season for you and why?

“All of the seasons I played in Cannes were specials. I played with amazing players but the year that stays in my best memories is when we arrive in Final Four in Baku 2012, beating Vakifbank in Cannes at the golden set with a volley-incredible-marathon!!! What a match!!! It was a really a great moment even we lost after against Fenerbahce in the final and keep the silver medal.”

What can you tell us about your time in Galatasaray? Did you expect more than you achieved there?

“In Galatasaray, I really enjoyed in my three seasons. We targeted all seasons what they asked and last season even more! It was my big dream to play in Turkey and they gave me this big opportunity, so I kept that, and I gave all. They asked me to stay and continue with them but I needed to come closer to my family and I came again in Cannes.”

Plans for the future, will you stay in Cannes or you have some other plans?

“In recent years I always signed contract year by year so this year I will also take all decisions after last ball fall!”

For how long do you plan to play volleyball considering that you are near 37?

“37…is the moment to start to think something else more than a volley. I got a diploma in physical training last December so we will see”
