A large number of teams canceled their participation due to the coronavirus pandemic, which is why the Croatian Volleyball Federation postponed all four competitions.

”I’m sorry the tournaments had to be canceled. The Croatian Volleyball Federation was ready to organize these tournaments according to the rules and epidemiological measures that we would strictly adhere to, as we successfully organized the European Championship in Osijek last August and the finals of the younger age categories in Zadar last October. However, a large number of both junior and cadet teams canceled their arrival, and the tournament would be reduced to teams from Croatia, the Czech Republic and Israel. We think that in these challenging times, and in the spirit of fair play, such a tournament would have no result value.” – commented on the postponement of the tournament Frane Žanić, expert secretary of the Croatian Volleyball Association.

The national teams of Croatia, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Austria, Slovenia, Slovakia, Israel and Hungary were to gather in Zadar.

We will do everything to try to organize all four U16, U17, U18 and U19 tournaments in March, again in Zadar. It is especially important for us to hold U16 and U17 tournaments in order to win a place in the European Championship! ” – concluded Frane Žanić.
