Europe’s Volleyball family is deeply saddened by the news of the major floods that have affected Serbia and Bosnia & Herzegovina, where dozens of casualties were reported, thousands of people were evacuated from their home towns and a state of emergency was declared by the respective governments. The CEV is closely following and monitoring the situation in these countries who have always played a major role in the promotion and development of Volleyball.

CEV is fully aware of the difficulties that these countries and their respective Volleyball families are facing due to this catastrophe,” CEV President André Meyer says. “We would like to assure all of our friends in Serbia and Bosnia & Herzegovina that CEV and the entire European Volleyball Family are standing at their side. We will do our utmost to provide them with the necessary help and support in these difficult times and also in order to help lay the foundations for a hopeful future,Mr. Meyer continues.

In his address to the local Volleyball communities, the CEV President recounts the close cooperation that CEV and these countries have established throughout the years:

We highly appreciate your reliable collaboration and all of your Federation’s efforts to further develop Volleyball and Beach Volleyball in your countries as well as across Europe. The positive pictures and high impressions from the CEV Youth Volleyball European Championship – Boys that Serbia and Bosnia & Herzegovina co-hosted last year are still impressed in our memories.”

On behalf of the European Volleyball Family, I would like to convey our most sincere and deepest sympathies to all those who were hit by the floods and at the same time confirm our readiness to identify the most suitable way to help and support the local communities,” Mr. Meyer concludes.
