Volleyball Australia President, Craig Carracher, was thrilled James Blunt had agreed to perform and said his appearance underlined the importance and the standing of the weekend.
“We are delighted and excited he accepted our invitation as we are repositioning the sport of volleyball as world class entertainment within Australia. There could have not been a better fit.”
The Volleyroos are back in the World League after a 15-year absence, and will be keen to improve on their double loss on the road to Belgium of the first weekend of World League matches.
Capacity crowds at both Belgian venues helped lift the home side to victory, and Carracher is hopeful Australian crowds will be equally supportive.
“As we host our first World League game in Australia, it was imperative to make a statement on the significance of this event. James Blunt’s performance is that statement. A performance from his World Tour at the World League.”
