This was the 205th match played by Noliko in the European Cups and that victory had a special flavor since the roster of the team has completely changed since last season after recruiting a bunch of young, yet promising and talented, players.
The real ‘match winner’ and hero on Tuesday night was Hungary’s teenager Krisztian Padar, who scored 27 points in his debut in Europe’s elite league, doing so only one week before he turns 18 next Friday. However, another player of Noliko, Argentine Juan Ignacio Finoli, could not ask for a better way to celebrate his 23rd birthday, which came at midnight right amidst the euphoria that followed Noliko’s victory over TOURS.
“This was a special game for me,” Finoli commented. “The same had happened five years ago in Argentina when I played my first match in the highest division of our national league and that also came on the eve of my birthday. And no birthday present could be more pleasant than this victory over TOURS.”
Of course, Finoli was one of the guys (see picture) ready to join the selfie shot right after the end of the match with France’s champion.
