The CBV said it will follow the decision of the country’s Olympic Committee (COB) who earlier announced the sending of about 200 athletes, divided into groups from July to December, for training in Europe.
Portugal is the first country that COB has chosen because it’s at an advanced stage in confronting COVID-19 and because of a good mutual relationship between these two Olympic Committees. The COB stressed it will cover the transportation, accommodation, and meals for the delegations of national federations. The COB also said it will finalize, in consultations with specialists and doctors from national federations, a protocol for resuming training in the country, more specifically at the Training Center in Rio de Janeiro.
However, some media reported that due to the increasing number of cases of coronavirus infection in Brazil (it became the second country to hit one million cases), things are getting complicated, especially for women’s volleyball national team.
At this moment, no country seems to be ready to host the training of the squad coached by Zé Roberto so the two-time Olympic champions are thinking of staying in Brazil and resuming their activities there. Due to pandemic, any gatherings would take place, not in the Volleyball Development Center in Saquarema, but in Barueri.
