Volleyball and beach volleyball are very much part of life in Brazil and it is no surprise that the country has experienced such a high level of international success in both disciplines of the sport. And Brazil knows exactly how to motivate players and help them develop their skills from a young age.

The VivaVolei programme was introduced in 1999 by then president of the Brazilian Volleyball Federation (CBV) and current FIVB president Dr. Ary S. Graça F° with the aim of using sport as a tool to develop the potential and sociability of 7 to 14 year olds.

Currently, Brazil’s women are Olympic champions, their men are FIVB World Champions and their men and women are FIVB Beach Volleyball World Champions. But the idea behind this national development programme is not just to produce new players but also to encourage social inclusion and reinforce the education of the children and youth involved.
