The multiple women’s volleyball club champions of Brazil, Osasco São Cristóvão Saúde, debuted in the 2021/22 Superliga with a 3-2 win.
Thanks to a great performance of Tifanny Abreu, who was two points short of a single-match scoring record of Superliga, which is in her and Tandara Caixeta’s possession, Osasco São Cristóvão Saúde beat the São Paulo state rivals Fluminense in a very balanced duel: 3-2 (26-24, 29-31, 25-22, 20-25 and 15-12). Notching 37 points, Tifanny made the absence of Tandara (suspended for doping) go unnoticed. Tifanny was moved by the head coach Luizomar de Moura to Tandara’s position of the opposite hitter. Camila Brait made 79% reception (33 digs, 58% excellent).
This season marks the 25th anniversary of Osasco in the elite of Brazilian volleyball, in honor of which their players wore black jerseys (the same color the players of the club, which name was BCN/Osasco wore in their inaugural season in Superliga) today.
