BRA: All Superliga teams gathered at pre-season ceremony (PHOTOS, VIDEO)

Brazilian Superliga (Brazilian Volleyball Championship) held a ceremony in São Paulo where it presented all teams that will compete both in Men’s and Women’s competition.

The 23rd edition of male and female volleyball Superliga (each consists of 12 teams) will start next Wednesday (October 26) with the Men’s game between Juiz de Fora and Campinas. The current champions of the Superliga are Rexona in Women’s, and Sada Cruzeiro in the Men’s competition.

Ten of 12 players who took gold medal for Brazilian Men’s Volleyball National Team at the 2016 Rio Olympics will play in the Superliga. Only Felipe Fonteles ’Lipe’ and Maurício Borges will play abroad. There will be four foreigners this season in Men’s Superliga.

The composition of male Superliga: Sada Cruzeiro, Campinas, Taubaté, Sesi, Montes Claros, Bento Vôlei, Minas Tênis Clube, Canoas, Maringá, Juiz de Fora, São Bernardo and Caramuru Castro, who secured their spot by winning Superliga B (Division 2) title.

In Women’s league, five of 12 Brazilian National Team players from Rio Olympics will play at home: Danielle Lins ’Dani Lins’ (Osasco), Gabriela Guimarães ’Gabi’ and Juciely Barreto (Rexona), Léia Silva (Minas), Fabiana Claudino (Praia Clube). As for international players, there will be 10 of them: Dutch Anne Buijs (Rexona), Serbians Tijana Malešević and Ana Bjelica (Osasco), Dominicans Prisila Rivera and Brenda Castillo (Bauru), Argentinians Emilce Sosa ’Mimi’ and Tanya Acosta (Pinheiros), Argentinian Tatiana Rizzo (Rio do Sul) and American Alexandra Klineman and Cuban Daymí Ramírez (Praia Clube).

The composition of female Superliga: Rexona, Praia Clube, Camponesa Minas, Osasco, Brasília Vôlei, Rio do Sul, Sesi, Pinheiros, São Caetano, Vôlei Bauru, Renata Valinhos and Fluminense, who secured their spot by winning Superliga B title.
