BRA M: Sesi engage Sesc outside hitter, Renata hire last season’s Korean cup MVP

Sesi-SP, the current Superliga silver medalists added three more names to their roster for the 2018/19. The first of them is a returnee, the outside hitter Alan Patrick Araújo, who went through Sesi youth categories before moving to play in Corinthians-Guarulhos last season. A 23-year-old Alan Patrick started his career as an opposite but switched to his current position a year ago. Sesi brought back two players from a loan in Sesc-RJ: middle blockers Gabriel Bertolini and Lucas Barreto. In the first days of the summer transfer window, Sesi renewed with the coach Roberley Leonaldo „Rubinho“.

The top division newcomers Vôlei UM Itapetininga (claimed No.2 at the end of Division 2 /Superliga B/) made four arrivals official: the middle blocker Wennder Carlos (whose last season’s club Copel/Telecom/Maringá was relegated to Division 2), libero Filipe Stolberg (played for Botafogo de Futebol e Regatas, Itapetininga’s rival in the 2017/18), outside hitter Rogério Nogueira „Mineiro“ (Corinthians-Guarulhos), and setter Pedro Teles (Lebes Canoas). Itapetininga renewed with the quartet José Ademar Santana, Wilclemi Santos, Guilherme Emina and Victor Cardoso „Birigui“ as well as with the head coach Fabiano Ribeiro.

Vôlei Ribeirão Preto, the second Superliga newcomers (Superliga B winners) closed the roster for the 2018/19 by making 6 transfers and 8 contract renewals: SETTERS: Juleandro Rocha “Jotinha” and Luis Rodrigues (Super Vôlei Santo André); OUTSIDE HITTERS: Alisson Melo (Emma Villas Siena – ITA, Division 2), Gabriel Pessoa, Gabriel França and Ricardo Gomes (Pool Libertas Cantù – ITA, Division 2); MIDDLE BLOCKERS: Giovanni Chagas, Bruno Jesus „Brunão“, João Meirelles and Pétrus Montes (Minas Tênis Clube); LIBEROS: Diego Santos (Super Vôlei Santo André) and Fábio Paes; OPPOSITES : Rodrigo Telles „Alemão“ (Sada Cruzeiro) and Rafael Bairros; COACH: Marcos Pacheco.

Vôlei Renata (Campinas) hired a capital reinforcement for the 2018/2019 season – a 29-year-old opposite Felipe Banderó. He returned to playing in his home country after a decade which he spent wearing jerseys of the clubs across Europe and Asia (Italy, Switzerland /one-time national championship Best Scorer/, Poland, South Korea /2017-18 national cup MVP/, and Lebanon). In addition to BanderóRenata brought in 6 more newcomers: Bruno Canuto (BCC Castellana Grotte, Italy), Gabriel Vaccari (Sesi-SP), Bruno Temponi (Spacer’s Toulouse, France), Lucas Deus „Lukinha“ (Hypo Tirol AlpenVolleys Haching, Germany), Luiz Henrique Sene „Luizinho“ (Corinthians-Guarulhos), and Michel Saraiva (Lebes Canoas), while Vinícius Siqueira „Vini“ has renewed his contract with the club.

The team that narrowly avoided relegation to lower rank, Ponta Grossa Caramuru, extended the deals with the septet: setters Alexsandro Vicente „Índio“ and Gustavo Souza, opposites Leonardo Pinheiro „Leozão“ (best scorer of the the team in 2017/18) and Caio Fazanha, outside hitter Jailton Silva Júnior „Peron“, middle blocker Thales Falcão, and libero Mendelson Júnior „Mendel“.
