EUROVOLLEY 2021 M: Poles make video montage of challenge on Slovenia’s match ball?

by WoV

Scandals related to the match between Poland and Slovenia in the semi-finals of the 2021 CEV Men’s Volleyball European Championship line up one after another.

It all started with an arrogant statement of Poland’s head coach Vital Heynen, then resumed with playing the wrong anthem for Slovenia, and (we thought) ended with the confrontation on the net between Kubiak and Urnaut. Now, there is one more scandal, probably the most controversial of all.

On social media, the images appeared showing that the hosts cheated on the video check asked on Slovenia’s match ball. We are talking about the first match ball for Slovenia. It took an unusually long time for the organizers to release a recording of the disputed detail after the spike of Tine Urnaut on which a block-out was awarded. When the footage finally appeared, many were surprised by the strange shots that differed from the original video of the point. The Slovenians claim that the Poles set up the video in a montage, changing the position of Fabian Drzyzga’s thumb.
