The 26-year-old Dutch international had the largest number of votes from both jury and the public. Slöetjes, the champion of Turkey with VakıfBank İstanbul and leading scorer of the Dutch Women’s National Team, got almost 50% of the votes of “Volleybal Krant” readers.

The “Ingrid Visser Award” is established to commemorate and honor Ingrid Visser, Dutch volleyball record holder in number of caps (514), who was abducted, tortured and killed along with her boyfriend in May, 2013, in Spain. At the moment, Visser was 35 years old.

The 2016 was the fourth edition of the “Ingrid Visser Award”. Just like previous ones, this edition was also organized by “Volleybal Krant”, the most popular volleyball magazine in The Netherlands.
