When the information of a possible suspension of Russian athletes, including volleyball players, first appeared, the FIVB didn’t want to comment on the topic until the process is over. Even now, when the World Anti-Doping Agency determined doping non-compliance with their Russian colleagues (RUSADA) and imposed a four-year ban from competing to athletes from this country, the FIVB avoided commenting on the case.
“The FIVB will not comment on the RUSADA compliance situation until the full legal process, including all appeals, has concluded,” the governing body of world volleyball issued an official release on the matter.
It’s still unclear on what way will the spot of Russia on volleyball tournaments at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics be fulfilled. Also, who will organize the 2022 Men’s World Championship now that Russia can’t, which is also a part of the WADA punishment?
