The Volleyball Nations League 2023 (VNL2023) commenced its second week in Hong Kong, China, with teams from Poland and China celebrating significant victories.

Poland achieved their fifth consecutive win in the tournament by overpowering the Dominican Republic 3-1. The final scores read 25-23, 30-28, 23-25, 25-17, reflecting the fierce competition between the teams. Poland’s volleyball prodigy, Magdalena Stysiak, was the standout performer, contributing an impressive 28 points to the victory. Teammates Olivia Rozanski, Agnieszka Korneluk and Martyna Lukasik were not far behind, securing 19, 11 and 10 points, respectively. The Dominican Republic put up a spirited fight with Brayelin Martinez, Gaila Gonzalez, and Yonkaira Pena scoring 21, 19, and 14 points, respectively.

Simultaneously, China rose to the top of the VNL2023 standings, boasting an unbeaten 5-0 win-loss record and amassing 14 points. They started their home tournament with a dominating 3-0 shutout against Canada, with the set scores being 25-14, 25-18, 29-27.

Li Yingying, China’s outside hitter, proved instrumental to the team’s success, earning the title of the best scorer of the match with 14 points. Despite facing a formidable adversary, Canada’s Alexa Gray concluded the game with 13 points, while Hilary Howe and Kiera Van Ryk added 12 and 10 points to the team’s tally, respectively.
