GP 2017: Serbia outplayed USA in tie-break

Serbia opened the Final Six of the FIVB World Grand Prix with the victory of 3-2 (25-22, 25-17, 23-25, 18-25, 15-11)over the USA.

Serbian girls could end this match much earlier since they led 2:0 in sets but the USA fought until the end. During the whole match, Serbia dominated in the block and Brankica Mihajlovićand Tijana Boskovic were the main attackers on the net. Of course, captain Milena Rašić and Jovana Stevanović also were very good.

The most interesting part in the match was in the second set when the USA led 12:8 and Serbia first equalized on 16:16 and after 18:17 made series of 7:0 for the final 25:17.

Also in the fourth set USA played like they have just started the match, they even led in this set 17:9. TeTori Dixonbecame unstoppable from the attack line.

In the tie-break, Serbia again played on the high level and deservedly won 3:2.

The starting list of USA: Lloyd, Dixon, Gibbemeyer, Kingdon, Murphy, Bartsch, Wong(L). 

The starting list of Serbia: Malesevic, Antonijevic, Mihajlovic, Stevanovic, Rasic, Boskovic, Blagojavic (L).

 

Best scorers: Mihajlovic 25, Boskovic 22; Michelle Bartsch 17, Lauren Gibbemeyer 15.
