“Last week in Istanbul, we managed to play well during the first set and to cause problems for VakifBank. Then, we really struggled on the side-out and it paved the way for the opponents victory. They rapidly reached their cruise speed, showing all their physical power, their individual and collective skills, as well as their overall team stability, even after their libero’s injury,” remembers Yan Fang, head coach of CANNES. “My main goal for this return match at home is to see my team play at its best. The score and the result will simply be a consequence of the quality of our game. I am convinced that we can perform, individually and collectively, much better than during the first match, and I expect our players to use this game as the opportunity to really measure up against one of the best teams in Europe.”
Despite the fact that CANNES already managed to reverse the steam against VakifBank after a breathtaking Golden Set two years ago at the same stage of the competition, the Turkish team is in a much more favorable position than its French rival who must play all-in in this do-or-die battle.
