Michal Winiarski has announced his squad for the upcoming Paris Olympics. The German Volleyball Association (DVV) will propose these twelve players, plus one reserve, to the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB) for final nomination.
Winiarski’s selection includes two setters, one opposite, five outside hitters, three middle blockers, and one libero. Reserve player Jan Zimmermann can replace any of the twelve players for medical reasons during the games.
The German team will be captained by veteran setter Lukas Kampa. Joining him are experienced players Georg Grozer and Christian Fromm, bringing the total international caps among them to over 700. Kampa and Grozer previously competed in the 2012 London Olympics, where Germany finished fifth.
Other players include libero Julian Zenger, middle blockers Tobias Krick and Anton Brehme, and outside hitters Moritz Reichert, Ruben Schott, and Tobias Brand. The team also features versatile outside hitter Moritz Karlitzek, who can play as an opposite as well. Lenny Graven, Florian Krage, and Filip John, who played in the VNL, remain on standby for any last-minute changes before July 25.
