Just like in any occupation, women sometimes have difficulties to get paid while being on maternity leave. Volleyball is not an exception. Of course, every decent country regulates this by the letter of law. However, you will always find a company that tries to bypass regulations. It happens in volleyball as well.

The Italian government introduced a new measure that will be conducted through its Office for Sports to which every other government should look up. It set up a fund of one million euros to support the maternity of female athletes whose careers are active in the moment of getting pregnant. Every high-level athlete in maternity leave will have access to a contribution of 1,000 euros a month for 10 months upon request.

Retired Italian National Team setter, one-time world champion and two-time European champion, Eleonora Lo Bianco was chosen to promote this new measure of the Italian government. She became the mother herself a month ago.
