Mostly thanks to the Pole Bartosz Kurek, who has returned to his stellar levels (33 points), Monza pushed Perugia to the limits in the postponed Round 3 match of the 2019/20 SuperLega Credem Banca regular season, failing to convert two match points: 3-2 (25-19, 19-25, 25-18, 20-25, 18-16).
Due to the exhaustion of his players from the recent Super Cup, which they claimed, Perugia head coach Heynen made several changes in the line-up and rotations during the match. For instance, Poland National Team member León came in only at the end of the second set, while Serbian Atanasijević did not play the third and the fourth set at all. Filippo Lanza was Perugia’s top scorer with 15 points.
