ITA W: Scandicci survive another marathon vs Busto and advance to semifinals

Savino Del Bene Scandicci and Igor Gorgonzola Novara advanced to the playoff semifinal of the 2020/21 Italian Women’s Volleyball Championship.

The 5th-seed Savino Del Bene Scandicci and no.4 Unet E-Work Busto Arsizio repeated a marathon match from Game 1 of the 2020/21 Italian Women’s Lega Pallavolo Serie A Femminile playoff quarterfinals. And just like then, Scandicci prevailed in the tie-break and moved to the semifinals. Game 2 ended partially 22-25, 25-21, 25-22, 22-25, 15-7. Pole Magdalena Stysiak highlighted the winning side with 26 points. Serbian Mina Popović made 4 blocks.

Led by Pole Malwina Smarzek (16 points), Sara Bonifacio (4 blocks), and Caterina Bosetti (75 % reception, 20 digs, 1 error, 60 % perfect), the regular-season vice-champions Igor Gorgonzola Novara beat no.10 Bartoccini Fortinfissi Perugia in 4 sets in Game 2 and also progressed to the semifinals where the top-seed Imoco Volley Conegliano already secured a spot.
