In an interview for “La Repubblica”, Travica said that he doesn’t know why the new head coach Blengini decided not to return him to the Italian squad, although he returned Zaytsev and Sabbi.
“I don’t know. I think about it for days and haven’t been able to find answer yet. No one has made a phone call to me, no one bothered to tell me what has changed,” new player of Turkish Halkbank Ankara stated.
Travica doesn’t agree that he was removed from Blengini’s list for the 2015 World Cup for technical reasons only.
“If the decision was purely based on technical reasons, I would say – OK, there are setters better than me. It would be fair, legitimate. But it’s obvious that there’s more than that.”
Travica said that problems in the national team under Berruto were culminating for a whole year but he added that he has nothing against Berruto because the coach gave a lot to Italian volleyball during his mandate.
“Playing for Italy is like wearing a second skin. I will work hard to come back, hoping that it’s going to be enough,” setter concluded on a question if he said goodbye to the national team.
