Fans of the Italian Men’s Volleyball National Team will miss Ivan Zaytsev a lot in the 2017 CEV European Championship. But, the list of those who will miss “The Tsar” cannot be complete without the name of the “Azzurri” head coach.

Gianlorenzo Blengini probably based many aspects of his tactics for the 2017 EuroVolley on Zaytsev, which is logical, since “The Tsar” is one of the best volleyball players in the world. Now, due to the decision of the Italian Volleyball Federation (Fipav) to exclude the athlete for a “Footwear case”, Blengini will have to re-create his ideas for the tournament that will be held in Poland.

“With the primary goal of protecting the team and the work that was done, and wishing the problem will be solved, in the future, the athlete may be at the disposal of the national team again. By not going into issues against which I can’t compete with, for me it is obvious and inevitable that for this summer Ivan can’t be part of the group,” Fipav’s website published Blengini statement.
