The Iranian receiver Mohammadjavad Manavinezhad came from Paykan Tehran to Calzedonia Verona this summer as a huge boost for the Italian Men’s Volleyball club but did not play much in the season, so far.

Serie A1 side Verona will likely stay without a 21-year-old Iranian National Team member Manavinezhad in December. The receiver will return home to play the 2017 FIVB Club World Championship in Poland for Sarmayeh Bank.

Gian Luca Pasini wrote in his blog that Manavinezhad will leave Verona only for this tournament, but knowing the fact that Verona coach Nikola Grbić did not use him much so far, it will be interesting to see if the Iranian player will stay in Italy until the end of the season.

Too bad he would have gotten better experience in Italy but if that happens… then Iran Federation should’ve known that he might not have a chance to play. Maar and Jaeschke are strong competition for him in Verona. He’s just a rookie. He may have played in Iran as a starter but playing in a stronger league such as serie a1 means a whole different thing. Even strong players gets benched because there is currently a bettrr player than that person. He needs to improve so he could make his case to Grbic as a starter. That’s the reality he has to face. He’s still young. He should try to wait it out than leave.

Why then Grbic(and his agent) brought him in Verona?!

Re: @Luca to experience a stronger league? I think that’s the big reason. He wouldnt earn much from playing in Italy given his unknown status. He can be a superstar in Iran but there are also good players in his team like Maar and Jaeschke with more experience.

Re: @Luca There are plenty of international players on the bench. I doubt Grbic promised him a position in starting line-up. If Sander can be on the bench, and he is proven player, why this kid can’t?
