The two Kenyan rivals met in the final of the previous three editions in 2010, 2011 and 2012 and were expected to repeat it this year. However, Prisons lost their chance to be in the final this year after their defeat against Algerian GS Petroliers in the last day of the preliminary round of pool B. As a result, the four–time champions qualified second in pool B with 2-1 record and will play today’s quarterfinal against Piplines, who are seven-time champions and lead pool C with a lean sheet of win-loss ratio 3-0.
Other quarterfinal matches will feature a strong encounter with Algerian MB Bejaia against Cameroonian FAP and Egyptian Ahly against Rwandan APR.
